At KEYstep, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how the KEYstep browser extension collects, processes, and stores data.
---
### 1. No Server-Side Collection (100% Local Processing)
KEYstep does NOT collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data, web activity, or captured screenshots on any remote servers or databases. All data remains strictly local on your device.
* **No Third-Party Sharing:** We do not sell, rent, trade, or share any user data with third parties.
* **No Analytics Tracking:** The extension does not contain any telemetry or tracking scripts.

### 2. What Data We Process and Why
To function as an automated visual guide generator, KEYstep processes the following data locally within your browser:
* **Screenshots:** Captured only when you explicitly start a recording session and perform click actions.
* **Web Activity & Interaction:** Coordinates of mouse clicks, scroll positions, and text input values (during recording).
* **URLs and Page Titles:** The web address and name of the tab being recorded, to create accurate guides.
---
### 3. Data Storage and Security
All guide drafts, steps, and screen recordings are saved using secure local browser storage:
* **IndexedDB & Session Storage:** Used to persist your guides locally.
* **Data Export:** Your data only leaves your browser when you manually choose to export it (downloading as PowerPoint, Markdown, ZIP, or JSON to your local file system).
* **Clearing Data:** Deleting a guide inside the extension permanently removes all associated data and screenshots from your browser's local memory.
---
### 4. Permissions Disclosures
The extension requests the following permissions for the sole purpose of enabling its features:
